Use French Patio Doors for a More Decorative Look

When you are building a new home or renovating an old one, installing French patio doors will give your patio a more attractive look. French patio doors usually come in four panels; the two doors and two adjoining stationery door panels. These particular doors are very pretty and will give a lot of light and a sweeping view of your patio area and backyard. If you have a pool in your backyard, your French patio doors can open right into your pool area.

Sliding Patio Doors

Sliding patio doors are not as popular as they used to be for patios and most people are tearing them out and installing French patio doors in their place. Sliding patio doors are very hard to cover with window treatments and the metal frame is very unsightly. It takes a certain amount of strength with a majority of these sliding patio doors in order to open and close them. French patio doors are much easier to install, easier to open and extremely easy to cover with a window treatment. They also will fit better decoratively into your overall window scheme. So, if you ever have a choice or need to make a decision, be sure and choose the French patio door over the sliding patio door for your home.

Window Treatments

Many people leave their French patio doors uncovered because of the light factor, but if security is a factor it is very easy to find a beautiful window treatment. Your window treatment can be as easy as a decorative rod with two movable drapery panels. This way you can cover your French patio doors at night for security and privacy and then open them during the day to let in the light.

A cornice above French patio doors is also easy to achieve if you decide on a traversing drapery treatment or duette or wood blind treatment. This way when your treatment is open and pulled up, the blind will hide up inside the decorative cornice. Your hardware will also be hidden inside the cornice for a traversing treatment.

But by far because of its beauty, the best way to treat your French patio doors is by not treating them at all. These doors are beautiful on their own and deserve to be seen. They can lead from a bedroom to a terrace or into a pool area. They are also beautiful when sitting in a breakfast room looking out into the patio area. They will open up a small room with all of the light they bring into the room and can provide a beautiful view into your garden.
